Minister for Culture and Tourism visits Gloucester

25/1/2010

Margaret Hodge, Minister for Culture and Tourism, today visited Gloucester to view the Quays development and Gloucestershire College.

She also met Gloucester’s MP, Parmjit Dhanda, who helped to establish Gloucester’s Urban Regeneration Company.  His very first question at PMQs to Tony Blair in 2001, was about setting up a regeneration company for the City. The Company has helped to lever in £180m of private sector investment to build us a retail centre to be proud of in Gloucester Docks and Mrs Hodge came to see the improvement for herself.

The minister also saw the value of our new £35m Gloucestershire College at the Docks and the new opportunities it is providing for local people.
