- Parmjit shows support for short term lodging hosts
Last week, Parmjit voiced the importance of short term supported lodging hosts for the less-fortunate youth in Gloucester. The existing service, known as "Nightstop" has been successful, but more lodging hosts are needed to get young people off the streets and into warmer, safer accomodation. The hosts take young homeless people in their homes for up to 6 weeks whilst longer term housing is found for them or they are helped to return home. Parmjit urges Gloucester residents to consider this gentle challenge, and help the youth who are in need of a safe temporary accomadation.

Parmjit recently attended an award ceremony at Widden Primary Shool in honour of head teacher, Tim Cooper, as he accepted the Annemarie Schimmel Award for championing a Muslim cause. Tim lead by example by building a model of community and school partnership. He has assisted in the creation of various initiatives for the Muslim community in schools. The aim is to promote a sense of partnership between Muslim and non-Muslim groups, and working together to make contributions to diverse areas of life.

Last Wednesday Parmjit attended the launch of the 100inONEHUNDRED challenge, which aims to increase the number of apprenticeships in Gloucestershire by 100 in only 100 days. Over 70 guests from the Gloucestershire business community were in attendance encouraging other employers to support the initiative and invest in apprenticeship training.
